Keep Fidler Crabs Out of Walmart

This petition is designed to protect fiddler crabs from being captured from their natural environment and sold at walmart stores. These crabs have a lifespan of about two years. They live in salt water conditions. Like most crabs, Fiddler crabs shed their shells as they grow, a process called molting. If these crabs lose a limb, the limb will reappear once the crab has molted. They are primarily found in marshes, beaches and mud flats. These crabs prefer 75-85 degreee climate. Males have one noticably large claw, while females have two small claws.

Recently walmart corporation has begun selling these crabs in their stores. These crabs appear on shelves in a small plastic container. My partner and I see these creatures often dead due to walmart's inability to provide sufficient living conditions. Walmart sells these crabs as freshwater animals and do not provide adequate information as to how to take care of the crabs. These crabs are not able to reproduce in captivity so all of the crabs being sold are taken from their natural environment, placed in a very small container and put on walmart shelves where a lot of them will die. This type of animal abuse should not be endoresed by this corporation. sign the peition to stop the abuse.
