Ban Cruel Fishing at Shamrock Park, Tyrone, GA

I've lived near Shamrock Park for 8 years and walk my dogs there every day. Over the past few years, I've seen so many Canada Geese get tangled in discarded fishing line. It maims them when it becomes wrapped around their legs and feet. And it's almost impossible to catch them to remove the line if they can still fly. Gradually, their circulation is cut off and they die a miserable death. I've picked up so much discarded fishing line over the years, as well as discarded hooks that are dangerous for humans and animals. Shamrock Park is a catch and release pond. What's the point of catching fish, causing it both pain and fear, then throwing it back? People think it's a good outdoor activity for kids but I believe it only promotes cruelty and little regard for life. Please help us end needless pain and suffering by signing this petition. I plan to present it to the Town of Tyrone governing board.
