Ed the Zebra's Escape Proves Wild Animals Aren't Pets. Help Send Him to a Sanctuary!

You may have seen the viral story of Ed the zebra's dramatic escape in Tennessee, a wild ordeal that captured the attention of social media. While the story is entertaining and Ed is thankfully safe now, his escape serves as a strong reminder of why wild animals should never be treated as personal pets.

Within just 15 hours of arriving at his new home, Ed managed to escape, leaving his owners clueless about how it happened and prompting an intense 8-day search. Ed deserves a life of peace and safety, far from the risks of being in a private, unqualified setting.

Sign the petition to ask for local authorities to relocate Ed the Zebra to a sanctuary so he can live a fulfilling life!

Ed's owners admitted that they were inspired to purchase him after seeing two zebras standing on a driveway at someone else's home. However, these majestic animals are not flashy toys to show off. If they cannot live in the wild for any reason, they belong in sanctuaries, not on private farms where they are often treated as novelties.

This event, while entertaining, highlights how unqualified and ill-equipped most individuals are to care for wild animals like zebras. Wild animals like zebras have complex needs that cannot be met in a private farm environment. Since the escape and rescue, one of Ed's owners even said he hopes a zoo will take Ed in.

This was a close call, and it's clear that keeping wild animals like zebras is unsafe for both the animal and the public.

Sign this petition to urge local authorities to take action and ensure Ed is sent to a sanctuary, where he can live the life he deserves, free from the fear and uncertainty caused by human error.
