The not so giant, giant kangaroo rat is a keystone species. Meaning that the lack of this little rat's presence in its ecosystem has unfathomable consequences. So the fact that giant kangaroo rat has been endangered for over 30 years is a terrifying thought. The rats reside specifically in the San Joaquin valley, which would be nothing without this furry friend. This rat has so many roles in the ecosystem which other animals depend on. Saving the Giant Kangaroo rat will save so many other endangered species that also live in the grasslands in California.

Sign this petition to further convince California to protect the San Joaquin valley and all of the biodiversity it holds.
