Safe Education is a Right

Many people do not realize the effects violence in media has on public opinion and how the public views the world.  Today I was upset about how students are not provided a safe space to receive their education and how schools do not have funding to provide a safe education to everyone.  While I was expressing my concern and said everyone is responsbile, I was told to get over it and there is nothing anyone can do to make education safe for children.

The basis of my petition is for the United States government to charge taxes to individuals who purchase violent media such as music, movies/tv shows, and games.  The more violent the media is the person is buying, the more they would have to pay in taxes.  Rating boards for each specific media type should be able to determine how much violence is in the media and what the rating should be applied.  Also, a person would have to be 18 or older to purchase violent media and show an id proving their age.  The tax revenues earned would fund a federal program that allows more security at schools.  This covers security staff, alarms, doors, fences, and gates, security trainings, and metal detectors for schools.  Programs to assist mentally ill students or students who have undergone trama would also be enacted.  Every student deserves a right to a safe education.
