For some odd reason 2Ksports made in my opinion the best NFL football game ever in the history of video games. All fields covered with; realistic movement, quarterback drop-steps, passing angles, runner spins, trucks, jukes, dives, walk-in celebrations just by letting off the analog inside the 20 yard line, end zone celebrations, reiever route running, diving catches, one handed grabs, jumpball snags, side-line toe grabs, defensive realism, power tackles, and slams.
This game even had features back then no games have to this day on even on "XBOX 360" like the crowd response to in-game events, custom stadium music, interactive on-field officials, the best challenge review (where they actually bring out the chain measurement), security & stadium staff even in stands, all coaches and sideline activity (kickers warming up, trainers, even cheerleaders), even the people in the crowd had a different personalties & reactions. Last but not least, anyone who played this agrees the biggest feature on this game that was seriously eye-popping was the pre game, halftime, & post game show with Chris Berman. This was by far some of the most amazing displays of technology, from the realistic recap by Berman while the replays were going stats showing, this was as close as any franchise ever came to combining man and technology. WE WERE BASICALLLY PLAYING A REAL LIFE GAME!
I say all this of being a fan of the Madden series also but from July 2004 when 2K5 ESPN NFL was released, me and a large group of people shelved madden all the way until the release of XBOX 360. The odd part about all of this is you stopped when you had something huge going. All of these facts may sound pointless to some but anyone who has a love for football, knows that these features make for the best game ever. Alot of football gamers have been sort of disappointed with the last few Madden installments, is really an opporitunity to take advantage of the market. With the 2004 blueprint alone, 2K has an edge with features, with new additions in technology clearly displayed in the 2KNBA series, a new football series will dominate the industry. So I'm urging all my fellow sports gamers, those who really want a real football game sign up and come on 2K lets make it happen!
