LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGE FOR LOUISIANA RESIDENTS

Gay marriage should be legalized in Louisiana.  Gay couples are denied significant rights when they are not allowed to marry, and this results in inequality between heterosexual and homosexual couples.  The arguments against the legalization of same-sex marriage do not merit the legal support of the state, since the state's job is not to promote popular morality or opinion, but the rights of its citizens and the pursuit of happiness.
We the undersigned are deeply concerned with the rights afforded to gay marriages in the state of Louisiana.  We ask that you would please re-evaluate the laws of Louisiana and help to promote equality for same sex marriages by recognizing them at the state level.  We ask only that as a gay community we can be afforded the same rights and privaledges that many other states have come to accept and promote.

Thank you for your consideration,

PRES. Gary D. Abbott,
(LERO) Louisiana Equal Rights Organization
