Move the Lines

PPL Corporation is proposing to construct new transmission lines from Coopersburg to Quakertown, passing through Richland and Springfield Townships.

PPL also purchased an 85-acre parcel in Springfield Township in a district zoned as "Resource Protection" and plans to build a substation.

We the undersigned strongly oppose PPL Corporation's preferred route, which will traverse private  property, woodlands, wetlands, farmlands, and the headwaters of the Tohickon Creek.

We are not opposed to the construction of additional transmission lines; however, we do believe the environment, the residents and the land can be better accomodated with either of the two alternate routes.  One of the alternate routes is an existing PPL high volatge transmission line, the other is a SEPTA rail right of way.

The Board of Supervisors of Springfield Township unanimously opposes the PPL preferred route and has filed a petition to intervene in the PUC hearing.  Other municipalities are expected to join this effort.

As citizens, consumers, property owners,  we request a thorough evaluation of the alternate routes for the transmission line and substation.
