How would you like to have your stomach cut open in the first place?
But.. to have it done so badly, you nearly die from infection before you can even get the chance to recover?
Read on for my story.. and how I survived due to the owner of this petition adopting me and taking me to a vet.
I can only begin to tell you what my kitten had gone through when I first adopted her. I got her from a shelter, and when I saw her stomach I was appauled. She had a cut in her stomach from just being fixed, and to me, it didn't look right. When I asked, they told me, 'Oh, no, she's fine. Are you going to adopt her, or what?' I loved this kitten, and I adopted her, $50 there.
A couple of days go by, and I notice her cut has only gotten worse, green puss is starting to ooze from it and it is just genuinly disheartening to even look at. It is puffy, and it has slime oozing from it. At first, it was swollen, and with a minor puss problem, which I thought was wrong anyways.
My mother takes her to the vet, he isn't amused, either. He starts to go off about how many times this happens. The truth is, since the animals may or may not be adopted, they do the fixing cheap(and not just this shelter, many of them, not all, but many.), and the poor animals get infected. What the vet told her next, just angered her and I even more. She was a couple of days away from a hardcore, life-threatening infection. He'd cleaned up the wound, which oozed slime and made her whine, cry, and writhe at even the slightest touch. And the funny thing is, they told me she looked happy go lucky, when I knew from the start, having no pet experience that she was not. Not to mention the two marker drawn on incision lines that were left there because apparently they almost cut the wrong place?
And me? I had to everyday clean out that wound while my mother held the scruff of her neck to keep her from infecting again and getting worse. All due to the fact they did such a cheap job on her tummy.
I ask you, please, let me get enough signatures that make a difference... I don't want an animal to die due to their awful fix-job before they even have a chance to be adopted because they get so infected.
I got her from the Canyon County Animal shelter, however, I am also doing this for the humane society due to what the vet had told us. I do not want them to be shut down, because that is hundreds of animals out in the cold, without shelter or food everyday-- but I want them to spay/neuter right, I'm trying to let them know that they ARE being watched, and this NEEDS to stop. Innocent lives are at stake, people, harsh times.
Please, tell all of your friends, show people you know, and help me put my absolutely wonderful cat to justice.
