An Open Primary Voting System for New Jersey!

New Jersey is a decidedly blue state who champions its liberal democratic standing. However, one area where our state falters in its promotion of civil and civic liberties is in its semi-open primary voting structure. This means that for a NJ citizen to votre in their state's primary they must either be of or declare a party affiliation. This means, in a state with a particularly large amount of independent and unaffiliated voters, for those not registered under one of the two main political parties (Democrat or Republican) if your candidate is no longer in the running for the presidential nomination, you don't get a primary vote. In my opinion, this is not only unjust--disenfranchising hundreds of voters of their rights as taxpayers--but is undemocratic, unfair and unconstitutional. We want New Jersey to hold open primaries wherein all state citizens may vote regardless of their party affiliation or lack thereof and without have to officially declare their allegiance to a particular party to exercise their constitutional right to be heard. Help us empower our voters and re-institute our rights as citizens!! Let New Jersey vote! Let our voices be heard! All of them!!
