Tell the DNC to play by the rules - Florida and Michigan don't count.
The purpose of this petition to urge the DNC to follow the rules it set last year when it declared that the Michigan and Florida primaries would not count because the states changed the dates for their democratic primaries despite requests by the DNC not to do so. Every democratic candidate at the time agreed that the primaries would not count and signed a pledge not to campaign there.
Now, faced with losing the nomination, Hillary Clinton wants to change the rules. Barack Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan and did not campaign in Florida. It would be patently unfair to change the rules after the fact to add delegates from elections in which Barack Obama did not participate.
By signing this petition, you are:
1) Telling the DNC to adhere to fair play by following the rules it set last year.
2) Informing the DNC that you likely will not support any candidate who wins the nomination by unfairly changing the rules to include January election results from these two states.
Tell the DNC to follow the rules and tell Hillary Clinton that her word matters. Sign this petition.
We the undersigned encourage you in the strongest terms to adhere to the rules the Democratic Party set last year with respect to Florida and Michigan. It would be patently unfair to seat these delegates when the elections where not contested. Every candidate agreed to these rules and endorsed them. Barack Obama was not even on the ballot in Michigan.
Many of the petition signers expressed the view that if the rules are change it would amount to stealing the nomination. These petition signers represent thousands of more voters who will likely not vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election if the rules are changed.
