BP Justice

The purpose of this petition is to put pressure on our Elected "Representatives" to force British Petroleum (BP) to pay an hourly wage to the local citizens that volunteer in the daunting task of cleaning up this catastrophic oil spill.  It is inevitable that the brunt of cleaning up the oil from the BP oil spill is going to fall on the backs of the people who live in the affected areas.  This will be hard work in hot and humid conditions.  We will have to work through the long hot summer, sacrificing our time and energy, while still fulfilling our responsibilities to our families and careers.  It is only fair that BP be required to compensate those who are willing to do the hard painstaking work of cleaning up BP's mess.  Not only in the short term, but for as long as it takes to clean this mess up.   Once again, we the people will have to act responsibly where others have not.    That doesn't mean that we have to roll over and take it without a fight.  Don't just sit there and complain.  Do something!
