breed bans in the uk.
for far too long england has perscuted perfic breed and i think it's time for this to end. BSL is RASCIM and we need to stand up for it to stop.
people are to blame for making dangerous dogs, not the dogs and not the breeds. also being born of a certain breed isn't a crime yet a lot of dogs are being killed for it. and the few that escape the death penalty, are forced to live a life of isolation and humilation, by being muzzeled and leashed in public. unable to run free, play with other dogs and just be dogs.
some people stand up for the law because they think it will prevent dog fighting, but it will never prevent dog fighting because those dogs are kept and breed underground.
i think that is the DDA focused on muzzeling dogs that show aggression not muzzeling breeds. no dog should ever be killed or muzzeled based on breed again.
we the undersigned want the removal of section 1 of the dangerous dog act, because we feel that it is wrong to target certain breeds when all breeds can and have bitten people. it also allows people to use breed as a scapegoat rather than focusing on irrisponsible ownership which creates dangerous dogs regardless of breed.
any dog of any breed is capable of attacking. so banning four breeds is unfair and has not prevented dog attacks.
some people stand up for the law to stay based on a belief that it will prevent illegal dog fighting. however breed bans will never prevent illegal dog fighting because the pit bulls used are already underground, are breed underground and will remain underground. pit bulls were outlawed about 18 years ago. However in the past couple of years there have been 3 major raids on dog fighting rings. 14 , 26 and 29 pit bulls were siezed. we think that this is proof enough that banning pit bulls has had no impact on dog fighting.
we the undersigned want no breed to be illegal as it is unfair and is not prevent dog attacks. we also want no breed to be banned again.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and i hope that you will consider removing section 1 of the Dangerous dog act.
