CAT CHOKED, BEATEN UNTIL BLOODY

A Wappingers Falls man is due in court, accused of choking a cat and hitting its head against an asphalt driveway.

Officers from the Hudson Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals charged Kent N. Wolfson, 29, Monday with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony under the state's Agriculture and Market Laws.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation by SPCA officers and City of Newburgh police.

"Wolfson was witnessed choking a cat and hitting it's head against an asphalt driveway unmercifully," the Hudson Valley SPCA said in a written release.

Bloodied and beaten, the cat survived.

Wolfson was held in Newburgh city lockup. He was arraigned in the City of Newburgh court and posted bond of $5,000. He is due to return to court June 9.
