Create Higher Penalties for Animal Abuse In Canada

Dear Prime Minister Harper,
We the undersigned all know how bad animal abuse is. Beating dogs and cats, hitting them, starving them and more is a terrible crime, and it has to stop, and when it does, with higher penalties. Abusers must know the consequences of their actions, and animal cruelty investigators must have more funding in order to stop this once and for all. This one petition could change the lives of millions of animals across the country who are being abused, and they need our help desperately. As the government, you have the power to change the way the world is seen through the eyes of such terribly treated animals, and enforce stricter rules about stopping animal cruelty, for good now.
If passed, these laws will work miracles, and as the great Ghandi once said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
