Tell the Australian Navy: Don't Tolerate Sexual Assault!

An Australian Navy officer may serve only a year in jail after abusing his authority and sexually assaulting a female subordinate.

According to court testimony, Lieutenant John Alan Jones made a female subordinate remove her clothing and "beg" to be spanked--four times. In her testimony, the young sailor cried and said she has considered suicide. However, it now appears Jones' court martial panel may have been been more interested in the welfare of a Navy-issue computer that Jones tried to destroy when his misconduct became known.

Jones will be thrown out of the Navy, but he may serve only a year's jail time--"for good conduct," according to an article in Australia's 9 News. His case will be automatically "reviewed" and possibly appealed.

Tell the Aussie navy not to tolerate acts of sexual aggression and assault! Tell them not to let Jones off the hook with a light sentence all out of proportion to his crime.

We the undersigned are outraged that Lieutenant John Alan Jones may serve only a year in prison after repeatedly humiliating his female subordinate. Court records clearly show Jones charged with ordering a young women under his authority to undress and "beg" to be spanked. Just in case there's any lack of clarity about Jones' motives, the pornographic imagery on his Navy-issue computer shows that he has a spanking fetish. Please prosecute Jones to the full extent of the law. To do otherwise sends a message that military men can randomly attack the women serving alongside them.
