Apple, Stop the Abuse of Factory Workers!

Apple is famous for its popular gadgets, but few would suspect their shiny iPhone was made in a Chinese sweatshop where workers face horrendous working conditions. Foxconn, Apple's manufacturing partner, pays their factory workers very little, forces them to work long hours causing exhaustion, and forces them to live in the factory complex causing extreme social isolation.

A new game from the App store called "Phone Story" tried to expose this darker side of Apple's manufacturing process, but was quickly pulled by the company due to "depictions of child abuse and objectionable content." The game depicted workers jumping off a building to highlight the increasing number of suicides at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, China. 21 workers have already died from suicide. The problem is so bad Foxconn installed suicide nets around the complex.

Tell Steve Jobs these workers should receive a living wage, normal working hours, and freedom to live outside the complex.
We the undersigned wish to express our deep concerns with the labor practices of Foxconn, Apple's manufacturing partner. Workers at Foxconn face low pay, long working hours, and social isolation, which has led to a major suicide crisis at the factory complex in China.

We understand you have faced a long personal battle fighting cancer. If you want leave this world with grace and compassion, we encourage you to put an end to the suffering of these workers. Please ensure that they earn a living wage, work more reasonable hours, and have the freedom to live outside the factory. All human beings deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Thank you.
