End impulse pet purchases/giveaways at Wal Mart

Where I live Wal Mart is the most popular place for people to sell/give away animals on the weekends. As stated by Jacque Lynn Schultz, C.P.D.T of the ASPCA "Selecting the family dog should be a well-researched and carefully soul-searched activity. Are you and your family willing to make a 10 - 15 year commitment to this sentient being in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, for as long as all shall live?" Buying your dog on impulse outside of Wal Mart is NOT a "well-researched and carefully soul-searched activity". The Humane society states "As a nation we claim to love cats and dogs. But as a nation we should take a hard, sobering look at annual statistics." HSUS estimates that there are between 6-8 million cats and dogs entering shelters each year with sadly only half of those finding homes, the other half are euthanised. But these numbers only tell half of the story. The cats and dogs that do not become a shelter statistic are, the majority of the time, left to die by injury, disease, or neglect. The ones that do make it to a shelter and are not lucky enough to be adopted, find themselves euthanised. Euthanasia can come in many forms. Most people like to think of the animal peacefully drifting off from an injection of sodium pentobarbital. Sadly, this is not always the case. Many shelters euthanise by "carbon monoxide chambers, suffocation, decompression, nitrous oxide, and firearms". These are just to name a few.      "Tremendous as the problem pet overpopulation is, it can be solved if each of us take just a small step, starting with not allowing our animals to breed."     I can not say for a fact but my common sense would tell me that probably most of the animals ending up in shelters are the product of impulse buys and of owners who allow their animals to roam around the neighborhood unneutered/spayed to become pregnant with unwanted babies. Wal Mart is in the position to take a giant step in the fight to end animal suffering by not allowing these people to sell/give away animals on their property. Please stand with me and tell Wal Mart to stop letting people sell/give away animals on their property.
