An Appeal to the Catholic Bishops of New York

  • af: Concerned Catholics
  • mottagare: Archbishop Timothy Dolan and the New York Catholic Bishops' Conference

Mindful of the fact that Canon 915 in the Code of Canon Law states that "those who . . . obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion," we, the undersigned, respectfully request that you enforce Canon 915 now by denying Holy Communion to every Catholic member of the New York State Senate and Assembly who voted in favor of legalizing homosexual marriage.

We ask that this ban especially include the Catholic governor of New York, Mr. Andrew Cuomo, a flagrant and relentless proponent and advocate for the passage of this bill, who triumphantly signed it into law June 24, 2011, despite the repeated warnings and appeals of the New York State Bishops' Conference and thousands of Catholics and persons of faith across the state and nation.
