Tell PNM to build one of their solar power plants in McKinley County

The Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) has signed a contract with Arizona-based First Solar to build 22 megawatts of utility-scale photovoltaic solar installations at five sites around New Mexico. Gallup Solar is working with citizens, elected officials, and other supporters to persuade PNM to build one of these solar power plants in McKinley County to help serve the needs of rural New Mexicans.

If you support our efforts to ensure one of these plants is constructed in McKinley County, New Mexico, USA, please sign our petition.
We, the undersigned, are excited to see PNM is working to increase the amount of power it generates from renewable sources.

As conventional power generation methods become increasingly costly to maintain and continue to negatively impact the health of the environment and citizens around the nation, we're glad PNM is stepping forward to move its generation capacities in a new direction.

Solar energy is one of the most abundant sources of energy McKinley County has. As citizens of the area, we care about our environment and would like to see alternative forms of energy generation developed here.

We believe the work of organizations like Gallup Solar has shown that locating one of PNM's megawatt solar plants in McKinley County is not only feasible, but advantageous to both the company and citizens.

Therefore we strongly urge you to build one of your utility-scale photovoltaic installations in McKinley County to better serve the needs of rural New Mexicans and move public utilities in the direction of more environmentally-responsible power generation.

Thanks for your time.
