United against eating disorders!!!!

What does a woman see when she looks at the mirror?

Not what everyone else sees, if we believe the statistics. 2 to 3 17-year-old girls and 1 to 3 17-year-old boys in Greece would like to loose kilos, even if they believe that their weight is normal. But this is a global phenomenon. In western societies, where the majority of fashion models weighs less that the 98% of American women, the skinny figures are presented not only as beauty standards, but also as a necessary condition in order to achieve self-respect, success and happiness. The skinny obsession has even started affecting the younger ages, as 81% of the 10-year-olds is afraid that is going to become fat and half the teenage American girls is using unhealthy methods for weight-control. So, even if a woman doesn't starve to death, she will probably struggle for life with body image issues, which will make her feel undesired, inadequate and depressed. Even thought, in reality, not even Gisele looks like Gisele.

Thus, with this petition, we are reaching out to each and every one of you, to support the victims of anorexia nervosa. Our goal is to support the non-profit Greek organization Anasa that fights against eating disorders. But, more importantly, no matter who you are and where you are coming from, we are urging you to tell yourself, your girlfriend or your boyfriend:

No matter how you look, you look fabulous to me!!!!!!

This goes beyond nationality. This is a fight that we can only win united, as a global community!!!! We only ask for your signature, which will show your support. Thank you very much for taking part in our effort!
Dear President and Members of Anasa,

We the undersigned want to express our full support to your efforts and we would like to urge you to diversify your actions, so that the youngsters will be educated about nutrition and healthy lifestyle. With your support, we can fight against the skeleton-looking role models that they have started appearing in Greece too. But most importantly, we would like you to help women learn to love their body, despite its flaws.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter,
