Kidnap, Brutal Detention by FBI since March 2003 of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her three children
PAKISTAN/USA: A Pakistani lady doctor is missing with her three children since five years after her kidnap and arrest
Name of victim: Ms. Dr. Afia Siddiqui and her three children
Block 7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, Sindh province
Name of units of the alleged perpetrators: Intelligence agencies of Pakistan and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI-US)
It is shocking to learn that Dr. Afia Siddiqui, a Pakistani citizen has been missing with her three children since April 2003, after kidnap and arrest by Pakistani authorities. Her whereabouts as well as those of her children have remained unkn own until a few days ago. Current reports in the media are suggesting her eleven and a half year old son is being tried 'in camera' on unspecified charges. Simple maths put the age of the boy at six and a half when he was kidnapped with his mother and siblings.
Come on FBI, you kidding someone?
Dr. Afia was allegedly picked-up by Pakistani authorities while on her way to the airport and some reports suggest that she was handed over to the American FBI. A few days later an American news channel, NBC, reported that Afia had been arrested in Pakistan on suspicion of facilitating money transfers for terror networks of Osama Bin Laden.
On April 1, 2003, a small news item was published in an Urdu daily with reference to a press conference of then Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat when, in reply to a question regarding the arrest of Dr. Siddiqui, he denied she had been arrested. A weekly English magazine in its special coverage on Dr. Afia reported that a week after the incident, an intelligence agency official, a motor cyclist in plain clothes, came to the house of her mother and warned 'We know that you are connected to higher-ups but do not make an issue out of your daughter's disappearance' and threatened her with dire consequences.
What is also of grave concern is that after her arrest Pakistani authorities handed her over to American intelligence agencies without being tried in Pakistan.
Reports suggest that Dr Aafia Siddiqui was held at the prison in Bagram, Afghanistan since her disappearance in 2003. Apparently she was known as Prisoner 650 or the Grey Woman of Bagram. It is also widely suspected that Prisoner 650 is Dr. Afia Siddiqui. She has reportedly been rendered insane due to constant rape and severe torture.
The above is addressed to the collective conscience of humanity.
She is a citizen of Pakistan and should be returned to her country along with her children where legal proceedings, if warranted, can be put in place.
