Let's put a limit to the Iraqi presence in Syria
Syria and Jordan, countries that have received the largest number of Iraqi refugees, are asking for assistance because of the strain on their infrastructures.
With the amount of violence in Iraq, increasing numbers of people are fleeing their native country for better jobs and lives in Damascus, and until recently, other Arab cities.
Apart from putting an unforeseen strain on medical, educational and employment facilities, some Iraqis are bringing with them some of the violence that they were trying to flee in the first place.
Jordan has closed its borders to refugees, so Syria is the only country in the region whose borders are open to fleeing Iraqis.
The Syrian economy and medical facilities in particular are facing massive problems because of the number of refugees fleeing Iraq for greener pastures..
