Liverpool FC - Work Together, Not Against Each Other

Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say "We're Liverpool."

- Bill Shankly

We, as supporters of Liverpool FC, recognise that the future of our club requires that the owners and management work together towards the common goal of making Liverpool FC the biggest, best, and most successful football club in the world while retaining the unique bond between club and supporters.

We value the investment in Liverpool FC that has been made by club owners George N. Gillett Jr and Thomas O. Hicks, and especially the role they have played in developing plans for a new stadium that will be truly worthy of the name of Liverpool FC.

We also recognise that Rafael Benítez is the finest football manager in the world today and we hold him in the highest possible personal esteem.

We therefore regret deeply the apparent conflict between the club's owners and the manager, and now feel obliged to call on both parties to take whatever steps are necessary to resolve this damaging dispute as amicably and as quickly as possible so that Mr Benitez can continue to build his team on the football pitch while Mr Gillett and Mr Hicks continue to develop their enterprise commercially, all working together in their own areas of expertise for the same overall goal: to build up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say "We're Liverpool."
