Create A National Monument To Honor Mothers

Maternal mortality remains one of the most devastating tragedies of our day. It may be hard to believe but even in the United States more women died in childbirth than US soldiers die in active military zones. We call on the United States' government to fully engage in addressing our maternal mortality problem by first, enacting a law requiring accurate reporting of maternity related deaths; second, constructing this monument in a prominent location in Washington DC as a reminder of their sacrifice and our responsibility; and finally to actively work to reduce the current maternal mortality rates to under 3 per 100,000 live births in the next decade.
In the United States more mothers die in childbirth than soldiers die in active military zones. Over the centuries we have always honored those who have given their lives in defense of their country. All across this nation we have thousands of memorials to the soldiers who have died to defend their country. Sadly, we have nothing to honor the mothers who died to give birth to it.

We call upon the member of the United State's Congress to support the Global MOMS Act, and build a Mother's Monument to honor all mothers, especially those who have died due to complications in child birth.

Thank you for your consideration and action on these proposed measures.
