NFPA 70e & OSHA

Petition  to protest NFPA70E and request that OSHA more carefully review NFPA 70E standards for flash protection, especially at the lower therm levels.
Although studies show that there are still shock and flash injuries happening a catchall flash dress- out is an over-reaction due to the following conditions

    A. No studies have been cited showing flash or shock are happening due to poor work practice on the part of the electrician, or a corrective action!
    B. No studies show flash or shock are happening due to improper training or work procedure,or corrective action.
    C. No studies or data are shown or have been presented studying the possible hazards of heat stress due to dressing out constantly.
    D. No studies have been undertaken showing the reduced productivity
due to either dressing out to troubleshoot or constantly wearing flash gear.

The premise of this petition is that NFPA70e is a punishing and flawed reaction to flash and shock injury that will harm the American industry and does NOTHING to upgrade trade skills, training, or safety procedures. That OSHA has adopted the NFPA as a standard rather than creating its own!
