Prosecute owners who abandoned dog and horses to their death

Eleven starved and abandoned horses and one injured dog were located by Good Samaritans in a remote corner of Florida's Dade County. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who discovered the animals after a two day search, say the property has been a dumping ground for unwanted animals.

The animals' living conditions, which include a three-inch layer of manure, were beyond horrific. The dog shows earmarks of having participated in illegal dog fights. She was so badly hurt, she could not even walk, according to a recent article in the Huffington Post. Despite their near brush with death, all but one of the starving horses is expected to survive. One of the horses has been identified via a tattoo.

Ask Dade County law enforcement to look for other features--microchips, tattoos, and physical traits--that will lead to identifying the animals' derelict owners and prosecuting them to the fullest extent of animal cruelty laws.
We the undersigned are outraged by the cruelty of owners who dumped their horses and dog in a remote corner of Dade County. It could not be clearer that these animals were left to die slowly and painfully of starvation. Only by a stroke of luck did the SPCA locate and save eleven of those horses, along with one injured dog. This kind of irresponsible stewardship of animals can not continue on your watch. Please examine all the living and dead horses and dog for any identifying markers that will lead to the prosecution of their most recent owners.
