"Children's Safety- Install Speed Bumps on Swan Drive"

On Friday May 22, 2009 around 6:30 pm my seven year old and five year old daughter were playing outside (in front of the house).  My husband was outside with them.  My son was sitting on the curb in front of our house and my daughter was riding her bike.  Within seconds a car came flying down the street at a high rate of speed and came within inches of striking my daughter.  The driver then veered to his left and headed toward my son and our house.  We are very fortunate that our children were saved that day.  The driver didn't even bother to stop.  He just sped away after leaving about 45 feet of skid marks in the roadway.  We were unable to identify the license plate number to call the police, but we could have easily lost two children that day due to his careless behavior and endangering children on a residential street.   Swan Drive is located in Clemente Ranch in Chandler, Arizona and there is far too much traffic coming down this street to access main roadways.  I am outside weekly with the neighborhood kids and all to often see cars flying behind to where I have had to literally run outside into the middle of the street to get the cars to slow down.

I am asking for everyone's support in signing this petition to present to the Homeowners Association and the City of Chandler to install speed bumps on Swan Drive and on other residental streets with a lot of traffic.  It shouldn't have to take losing a child's life before the cities start installing these speed bumps for the saftey of our children.  Children should be able to play safely out in front of their house without having to worry about losing their life!
