Remove Columbus Day from our National holidays

I am unclear why we as Americans especially those of us who are Native Americans would honor a man with a national holiday. Christopher Columbus was not even an American. He was an agent for Spain. Christopher Columbus and his men were historically portrayed as a hero. I feel the whole story has not been told, and we are lying to our youth when we teach about Columbus in our american ciriculum. Christopher Columbus Had enslaved the Taino People, brutalized the Taino people, tortured the Taino people. His Glory was gold, and not for the wealth and benefit of America, but for Spain. If he is to be honored, let Spain honor this man. I however will not. Columbus has no place in American history, nor does he deserve to be honored. Please stand with me as I fight to replace Christpher Columbus. I think the month of November should be Native American History month, to honor true American heros, not Genocidal fourtune seekers.
