NO DEER CULLING IN ROCHESTER HILLS, MI
We, the undersigned, oppose the proposed three-year moratorium on the city's hunting ban as a way to address the VDC (Vehicle-Deer Collision) problem. The use of lethal-methods in densely populated areas poses a safety threat to all residents, their animal companions and other wildlife. Additional to this, killing deer has proven to be an ineffective method of herd reduction, which would make this three-year deal into a never ending annual slaughter.
We kindly urge Mayor Bryan K. Barnett and the members of the City Council to implement alternative methods to prevent VDC's in high accident areas (such as improved signage, over/underpasses, fencing, Motion-Sensing Flashing Warning System, reduced speed limit, etc.) as well as feeding-ban and an education program that will teach residents effective natural methods to reduce property damage and live in harmony with wildlife.
