Save Gwinnett's Community Libraries

To the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners & Gwinnett County Library Board of Trustees:

We, the undersigned citizens of Gwinnett County, GA, hereby wish to make known our outrage with the Gwinnett Library Board's September 22, 2009 decision to move away from the community based library system .

We are adamantly opposed to the decision to move toward a regional / central library system that includes turning the current libraries in Dacula, Snellville and Lilburn into computer labs.

We call on our Gwinnett County Library Board to take the following actions:

1) Restore full library service to all 15 libraries in Gwinnett County, preserving the community based library system.

2) We call for a vote of No Confidence in Nancy Stanbery-Kellam, the Executive Director of Gwinnett Public Library, and we call for her removal as Executive Director for her reckless actions:

1) In her desire to close Dacula's Library. 2) For changing the Gwinnett library system from community to a regional based system without community input. 3) For her disregard for the opinions of the citizens of Gwinnett County.

Should the Gwinnett County Library Board fail to take into account the desires of the people of Gwinnett County, we call on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to dissolve the Library Board entirely and replace all current Library Board members.
