Say "Thank You" to Oklahoma's Rep. Tom Cole

On Feb. 18, 2011, during a debate on an appropriations bill, Rep. Cole voted against an amendment that would have barred the payment of U.S. dues to the United Nations.  It was a courageous vote, putting Mr. Cole at odds with other members of Oklahoma's delegation.  By voting "no," Rep. Cole preserved America's standing in the United Nations. He made it possible for President Obama to continue to work with and gain support from our allies in the UN.  It was a responsible and mature vote.  It was a decision that deserves our thanks.
We appreciate your decision to support the United Nations by voting against the Broun Amendment (which would have barred the payment of America's dues to the UN).  Your vote helps to preserve America's standing in the United Nations.  It helps our president work with and gain support from our allies in the UN.  Peace is being restored to conflict zones. Child mortality rates are falling. The UN is making important contributions to our understanding of climate change and sustainable development. The UN is at the heart of the global movement to promote a world-wide culture of peace.Thank you for representing Oklahoma so well. Sincerely,
