The prosecution has requested a year in prison and three prohibition against a man, DCJ, which last year struck four stab wounds to his dog and left dying in the doorway of the building from his home in Navas del Madro%uFFFDo (C%uFFFDceres).
This has informed the Federation of Animal Protection of Extremadura (FEPAEX), who presented himself as a private prosecutor in this case and has already received the order of the Court of Instruction No. 3 of C%uFFFDceres, which remembers the opening of trial against the defendant for the crime of domestic animal abuse.
The acts for which they are judged occurred on June 23, 2009 in that municipality cacere%uFFFDo when the defendant allegedly stabbed his dog, race "cocker" and left him to bleed to death in the doorway of his house.
In addition to years in prison, according FEPAEX, the prosecutor requested a sentence of three years' disqualification from the exercise of any profession, trade or commerce related to animals.
The Animal Protection Federation notes that, just the fact that DCJ is charged for the crime of animal abuse in Extremadura "makes us hope that something is changing in this community and that the impunity that exists for mistreating animals may have its days numbered."
FEPAEX further points out that later this year takes effect the reform of the Penal Code which eliminates the requirement that sufficient cruelty and animal abuse is unreasonable for a judge considered a crime.
