Study consolidation or unification of Kodiak Alaska

The residents of Kodiak Island need more information regarding alternate forms of local government.  A committee to study the advantages and disadvantages of consolidation or unification needs to be jointly appointed by the Kodiak City Council and the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. Such commitee of at least nine people would be comprised of residents from within and outside the city limits of Kodiak, as well as residents of the villages. The published findings of the committee would assist residents in making informed choices regarding change in our local forms of government.

We the undersigned residents of Kodiak request the establishment of a committee to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of unification or consolidation.  The committee would be jointly appointed by both governing bodies and would be comprised of at least nine residents from within and outside the city limits as well as members from the villages.  Kodiak residents need more information regarding the issue of consolidating or unifying Kodiak before making any choice that would change our local forms of government.
