The Jennifer Act - Involuntary Drug Treatment

The Jennifer Act was designed as a way for drug and alcohol abusers to receive involutary treatment. The bill is named after my daughter Jennifer Reynolds who tragically died at the age of 29 after fighting drug addiction for 13 years. Her fight was one that opened my eyes to the disease of addiction.Addiction becomes a chronic disorder and is so intense that the addict cannot voluntarily ask for treatment on their own. Their mind becomes a void, which can only really focus on their next high. So this bill is for any individual out of control with drug or alcohol addiction that needs to be stopped, so they can have a chance to get better and live. Through cooperation with the state government, the individual will be picked up, undergo a professional assessment and evaluation, and be admitted to a residential rehab facility. This will aid the individual with the tools needed on how to live without dependency on substances. The ultimate goal is to save the lives of those who cannot make that decision for themselves.

Currently this bill is being introduced in Indiana and Florida under the title "The Jennifer Act". With these signatures, we will show the government our support of addicted folks need for treatment and how much we care about these addicted individuals. We have an initial target of 5,000 signatures, let's help it get this passed. Visit thejenniferact.com for all the latest info about this bill. Thank you.
