Upholding State Rights to Medical Marijuana

To petition the Federal Government is not only our right as United States citizens (Amendment 1), but it also a time honored tradition. We, the undersigned, join in that tradition, and we exercise that right.

As of November 2008, thirteen states have passed laws removing the prohibition on marijuana use for medical purposes. The people of those thirteen states have spoken, yet they still live with the threat of the Federal Government overruling their valid laws and putting their citizens in jail for following a law that was voted on and passed in their state.

We, the undersigned, petition for the following:

1)      That any state of these United States, if that state passes a law by popular vote pertaining to the use of marijuana for medical purposes, will be immune from Federal Justice Department interference contrary to their valid law.

2)      That any citizen of a state that passes a law removing the prohibition from marijuana for medical purposes will be immune from any and all Federal prosecution for following their state's law.
