Our children and grandchildren deserve a safe climate.

PETITION

TO THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

This petition of citizens and residents of Victoria and Australia

draws to the attention of the House that we believe our children and grandchildren have a right to inherit a safe climate from those of us living today and to trust that adults will do our best to protect them from foreseeable harm caused by climate change. We believe that a safe climate for children depends on the Federal Parliament taking urgent action in 2011.

We therefore ask the House to: at a minimum, legislate in 2011 to:

- put a price on pollution; and

- provide direct support (such as a feed-in tariff) to clean renewable industries to build a new clean-energy economy
