Tell Starbucks: Stop Using Toxic Ingredients in Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

Fall is here again, but before you grab that tempting pumpkin spice latte, you might be alarmed to know what’s in it: Several toxic ingredients linked to genetic mutations and fatal asthma attacks – and the company doesn’t even list them all on its website!

As a patron, I’m disappointed, and as a board-certified doctor of natural medicine, I’m worried that the company is putting its customers at risk.

These toxic ingredients include sulfites, which have been linked with fatal asthma attacks; potassium sorbate, which has been shown to damage genetic material; and annatto, which has been linked with dangerously low blood pressure.

Starbucks needs to hear from potential customers like you today. If enough of us sign this petition, the company’s CEO will really feel the pressure to fix the recipe before fall ends!

Dear Mr. Schultz,

Your pumpkin spice latte is a fall classic – but I’m one of thousands of disappointed customers now that I know what’s actually in it.

I just learned that your seasonal fall beverage includes sulfites, which have been linked with fatal asthma attacks; potassium sorbate, which has been shown to damage genetic material; and annatto, which has been linked with severely low blood pressure. Even more infuriating is that you don’t even list the sulfites as an ingredient on your website! Fall should be a happy time -- the last thing this season needs is Starbucks threatening our health with hidden health hazards lurking in your popular products.

I hold Starbucks to a high standard. Yours is a company I should be able to trust. Please begin using safer ingredients in your pumpkin spice lattes and other beverages immediately, and list them all on your website and in your stores!
