Support Passage of Bill H66

  • af: Erinn King
  • mottagare: Anyone who cares about protecting children

Please consider signing this petition in support of Bill H66. The passage of this emergency preamble bill sponsored by Governor Baker will help change the law (58A) as it pertains to dangerous persons being held without bail until trial. Right now the only charge listed to hold somebody until trial is murder. Yes folks thats right, child sexual abuse, rape, and assault do not qualify-we should all be outraged!! What mechanism is in place to help us protect our children from serial predators and pedophiles??The hearing scheduled next week for a known serial predator who did indescribable damage to OUR children and community MUST be held! As the law states now he could be released as early as next week. We are hoping Vermont State Police pick him up on their warrant and arrest, detain, and arraign him. In the meantime we will continue to pressure Senator Eldridge for a hearing on bill H66.
Please sign so that the group of parents headed to the state house in the next week can show we have the support of our community and beyond! Please refrain from using any victims names! You can sign anonymously if you wish. Thank You!

Great news! I received word last night from Senator Crighton’s office that a hearing is set for 5/14 at 1pm at the Statehouse on Beacon Hill (room A2) All wanting to speak about the bill are welcome to and encouraged-even if you are not a victim! There is a first come first served sign up and those wishing to speak will have 3 minutes. You are also allowed to (or in place of) submit a written testimony(no limit) on why you feel this bill should be passed. Thank you!

Attached is an article from today stating exactly why we want this bill passed as soon as possible. Towards the end of the article the reporter refers to a statement by Gov. Baker that “we know there are a lot of victims groups (US!) who are anxious to see the dangerousness statute expanded.”
We will continue to fight!! Thank you:)

Thank you for signing this extremely important petition. Please forward on and help us get to 500 signatures by Wednesday morning! I am headed to Boston to the State House to meet with local rep Lori Ehrlich and some of her staff and want to bring as many as I can! I can't think of anything more important than this. Our children are our future, let's keep them safe! XOXO
