In Padukah, KY it has been reported that as a result of an investigation by the McCracken County Sherriff's Department, 32-year-old Beau Anderson has been arrested and charged with violation of Kentucky's state euthanasia statutes at the McCracken County Humane Society. Source.
West Kentucky Star News reported the story about Anderson, a supposed "state-certified animal euthanasia specialist" with a graphic and heartbreaking audio recording of him using the disgusting "heart stick" method to kill some dogs. The audio can be heard at the link provided below for the source of this information, but be warned, it is graphic, heartbreaking and absolutely sickening to hear.
Kentucky's statutes require that an animal be sedated before being subjected to the heart stick. Allegedly, Anderson didn't follow these requirements, resulting in over 4000 animals suffering a horrible and painful death at his hands.
MCHS had an agreement with the city's animal control facility to "dispose" of the animals they picked up. It's always amazing to hear the softer words humans use to describe the murder of animals; "disposal", "euthanasia", "put to sleep". The bottom line is, an animal is needlessly killed, sometimes by some of the most heartless and inhumane ways.
As is so often the case, the maximum penalties that Anderson faces if found guilty is a possible $500 and 90 days in jail. For the lives of over 4000 companion animals, that's ludicrous and shows just how much laws regarding animals need to be changed.
