Millions of sharks are killed each year, for various reasons. We need sharks because we get most of our oxygen from the ocean. Without sharks, our ocean ecosystem would be thrown out of balance. For example, sharks eat mackerel, and mackerel eat the fish that eat the algae in our ocean. If we take away sharks, then the mackerel would eat all of the algae eating fish, which would turn our ocean into an alge ocean. No creature, including humans, can survive with a alge ocean. If sharks keep on getting killed at this rate, soon sharks can be extinct. But we can change this.
