End trapping in White Rock, BC

Leg-hold, Conibear and snare-type traps are inherently inhumane devices designed to hold an animal against their will or kill them within a five-minute window. The suffering is tremendous for any animal caught in these traps - including endangered or at-risk species and companion animals like cats or dogs. There is no need for trapping and all wildlife, domestic animals and people are at risk when they are used.

Mayor and Council,

The use of leg-hold, Conibear, snare and other body-gripping traps always result in the pain and torture of animals - including non-targets such as endangered or at-risk species and companion animals.

White Rock has the ability under the Municipalities Act to prohibit their use within the city's borders. As a community recognized for its beauty, tourism and progressive nature, we ask that you immediately take steps to ban such traps as other municipalities have (including Gibsons, North Saanich, Coquitlam and North Vancouver).
