Update about 'Virginia Tech: Stop Letting Vet School Residents Practice Without Faculty Supervision

  • af: Kelly Rogers

HERE IS THE FULL UPDATE I RECEIVED:'

Good news regarding residents practicing without faculty supervision at the Virginia Tech Vet School!

The Vet School has changed their “Your Animal Health Care Team” web page to provide a clear definition of an intern, a resident, and a chief resident. It also states that “A chief resident may see patients without direct supervision; however, board-certified faculty are always available for consultation or back-up.”

Next improvement needed: give pet owners and referring veterinarians the choice between having their animals’ care managed by a member of the faculty or by a chief resident.

Please continue sharing the petition and let Virginia Tech know what we expect for our animals.
