Demand justice for sheep exposed to abuse in the US and Australian wool industries

Entrenched cruelty in the Australian and US wool industries has been exposed in a PETA video, which shows sheep being brutally punched and stamped on.

Fourteen sheds in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska in the US, and 19 sheds in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia were uncovered as sites of abuse.

The RSPCA in Australia has launched an investigation into the footage, which documents a total of 70 staff abusing sheep, with acts that included beating sheep with a hammer and another having a deep cut crudely sewn up.

The abuse occurred in spite of the sheep putting up no resistance to being sheared for their wool, and investigators did not record any vet care for the abused animals.

The Minister for Agriculture in Australia, Barnaby Joyce, questioned the footage. However, Mr Joyce is a keen supporter of introducing ‘ag-gag’ laws into Australia, which enable the abuse of animals by protecting abusers from being exposed.

Sheep deserve to be treated with respect and offenders need to be brought to justice. Please sign and share the petition to demand justice for sheep exposed to abuse in the US and Australian wool industries.
