Commend India's Ban on Animal Testing for Cosmetics

On June 28, 2013, India’s Bureau of Indian Standards approved the removal of any mention of animal tests from its cosmetics standard. Its approval also requires mandatory non-animal tests. This means that pending testing or approval of a cosmetic, the manufacturer must go to India’s Central Drug Standards Control Organisation for approval. Only after approval is given, meaning that the Bureau of Indian Standards’ non-animal standards are met, is the company allowed to proceed with testing.
