The City of Idaho Falls regulates the entire sanitation industry. What this means is if you need a Dumpster for your job site, home renovation, or yard clean up you HAVE to use the City of Idaho Falls. You have no choice. This hurts small businesses competing in the local market and creates a monopoly on the industry inside the city. This is not a common practice. As a consumer it limits them to what the city can do and in their time frame. That means no competing for the consumers business and in turn gives higher prices, less selection, and poor customer satisfaction. Help us change this for local businesses and consumers alike.
The reasons behind the request for change in the city code are:
1. Individuals and businesses have a larger selection of container products, prices, and services.
2. Individuals and businesses are not limited to only one provider, thus creating a free market.
3. Allows small waste businesses the opportunity to grow with a larger market.
4. Allows for individual and business needs to be met at a higher demand.
5. Community satisfaction increases with increase in customer support and accommodations.
We propose a change to be made in this code, thus allowing small businesses, such as ours and others, the opportunity to grow and diversify the market. This will give the citizens of Idaho Falls more choice, better service, and their demands met at a higher level.
