Demand Women's Attendance at Iran's Sports!

Iranian women like to cheer on their favorite athletes just as much as anyone else. That's why Darya Safai, an Iranian sports enthusiast, attended a recent Olympic event with a protest sign that read, "Let Iranian Women Enter Their Stadiums."

Safai is protesting a strictly-enforced Iranian law that says women aren't allowed to attend football or volleyball games. Iran's women make an incredible contribution to the country and should be allowed to root for Iran's sports teams just like any other Iranian.

Please join me in asking the Iranian government to lift the ban on women in all sports stadiums.

Dear Ayatollah Ali Khamenei:

I was saddened to learn that Iranian women are not allowed into your stadiums even to cheer on their own favorite athletes. It appears that women are not allowed to root for their own sons and brothers who achieve excellence in team sports. This is extremely backward and prejudicial. Darya Safai has a good point. During these days of Olympic hype, it's a good time to rethink this obsolete rule. Please lift the ban on women in all sports stadiums.
