Implement Animal Cruelty Registry in Louisiana with Strict Enforcement

Animal abuse and cruelty in Louisiana is described as an act of unjustifiable physical pain or suffering that is inflicted upon an animal.  These are poor defenseless creatures that cannot protect themselves or have their voices heard.  Creating an animal cruelty registry would be a crucial tool that could do just that; protect animals from those that have no heart, compassion or respect in the proper love and care of animals.

My continuing effort is to work state-by-state in an effort to encourage the implementation and strict enforcement of an animal cruelty registry.  Louisiana currently does not have any law to protect animals from potential abusers. What the state needs is a database that would be similar in stature to that of child abusers and sex offenders.  Any person that is found guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect needs to be placed on this database and need to be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers would have a lifetime ban from ever again owning, working with or caring for any animals.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource.

My effort in this petition is to encourage the Louisiana State Legislators to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry as a crucial tool in protecting animals.  As I work state to state, the hope is that such a database would be proposed on a national level with the health and well-being of all animals in mind.  You can help me on this journey by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments.

Louisiana State Legislators – I strongly urge you to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry that would protect poor defenseless animals that have no voice.  Such a database would be similar in stature to that of child abusers and sex offenders. Be a voice for these animals and give them the protection they deserve.
