Ban Cat Declawing (Amputation) In the United States

Most people do not recognize that Declawing is an extremely painful procedure which eliminates the claws by amputating part of the toes. To understand the procedure better it is identical to cutting all of your fingers off at the top knuckle. This cruel procedure creates weeks of painful healing and ultimately effects the cat's behavior permanently. In addition, should the cat ever leave the home it renders them absolutely defenseless.

On November 28, 2011 Israel unanimously set into law banning declawing of cats with a penalty of one year in jail and a fine of $20,000 (75,000 Shekels). If Israel, Australia, Turkey, Brazil and almost all of Europe can become enlightened and set forth a ban on cat declawing hasn't the time come for the United States?

It is estimated that 1 in 4 cats in the Unites States are currently being declawed (amputated) for the sole reason of saving their furniture and drapes. Isn't it time to stop this madness?

I'll make a deal with you! Sign this petition, share it and when we hit the signature goal, I Steven Spitz "Vegan Petman" do solemnly promise to personally take this all the way to the senate using all of my personal resources and connections.
