A NO KILL SHELTER IN VENTURA COUNTY

The Ventura County shelter in Camarillo, California is killing 50+ adoptable dogs and cats every week.   Other shelters have implemented new policies and procedures, eliminating the need to use killing as a management tool.  We believe our shelter can and must do the same.

We the Undersigned hereby demand that our Ventura County Department of Animal Services stop the use of killing as a population management tool.   Shelters in other communities have been able to implement new policies and programs that have eliminated the need to use killing to control their numbers.   There is no reason why Ventura County cannot and should not do the same.    There are many resources available to accomplish this transition to "no kill" and it is inhumane not to utilize them.   The internet is full of ideas, programs and policies that have been successful in other shelters, some of them located in neighboring communities.   This can be done. Thank you for your consideration
